Well .............
Second verse, same as the first ...
Just had my CA125 drawn last week and it has increased from 8 to 36. Below 35 is considered normal but the trend for me clearly indicates that the cancer cells are ramping up again. I have decided to try a regimen of oral Tamoxifen (hormone normally used for breast cancer), which has had some effect in slowing down ovarian tumor growth in some cases. I’m continuing with the acupuncture, Chinese herbs, milkshakes and exercise which certainly can’t hurt. Will have everything rechecked in two months, but we’re probably looking at another round of chemo later in the year.
What can I say? It’s the hand I’ve been dealt. Just focusing on our four beautiful granddaughters, loving and supportive family and friends, and enjoying this beautiful Colorado summer.

Paul bought this new "toy" for me today. 1991 XJS V12 British Racing Green Jaguar convertible. Always wanted one and we never know what's coming around the corner.

More good news!
I couldn’t stand it. I went in last Friday to have my port flushed (which I have to do every 6 weeks). I decided to go ahead and see what my CA125 was doing. Just got a call from the office and IT IS STILL 8!!! In three months it has gone from 12 to 8and remains at 8. This is very unusual for me. I’m still feeling pretty sassy (even though I just turned 60) and continuing with my acupuncture, Chinese herbs and daily milkshake. So far so good. For real this time, I probably won’t have it checked again for a couple of months.

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!
Just found out, my CA125 has dropped from 12 to 8!!!! Yeah baby!!! I’m attributing it to twice weekly acupuncture and Chinese herbs, working out regularly and my super-duper milkshakes, or perhaps the moon. I probably won’t have it checked again for a few months. Will put more details in a blogsite update later. Happy Dance!!!

In loving memory of our friend Gerry ...
Paul and I lost a very dear friend this week, Gerry Lee, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was Paul’s fishing mentor and friend for over two years and he and his wife, Susan, have been a strong support for me on an almost daily basis.
Gerry, you will always be in our hearts.
And, about that other issue in my life ...
Paul and I saw my oncologist yesterday morning. My CT scan showed that one of the tumors was wiped out by the chemo, the other two are reduced in size, but still present. My CA 125 has doubled in the last month. The long and the short of it is: the chemo helped, but probably because I was unable to take the last 2 platinum doses, due to my allergic reaction, the cancer is most likely coming back. I have a couple of treatment options (going back on chemo is one, not really considering this as an option) but the one I’m choosing is acupuncture and Chinese herbs, more exercise and regular sex (as opposed to irregular).
